30 Great Tips to Show Appreciation for Your Employees
Just ask a company with employee loyalty how important morale is to them. When employees start feeling unappreciated they tend to lose interest. Productivity is lost and motivation is hard. Low morale is contagious. A happy and productive workplace is a nice place to come to work everyday. No company is going to be perfect all the time but by showing your appreciation, the dark days will be easier to get through.
Most employers looking to boost employee morale today are taking a creative and cost effective approach. Not every company is able to offer high dollar incentives and are looking for unique ways to show appreciation (without breaking the bank).
Creative Ways to Increase Employee Morale
• Treat employees with respect.
• Call them by name–Remember something personal about them or their family.
• Give up a prime parking spot and give each employee a day/week of convenience.
• Hire a company to come wash your employee’s cars one sunny afternoon.
• Ask for their thoughts.
• Send a thank you card.

• Set goals and help them get there – reward them for the hard work.
• Acknowledge achievements regularly and publicly with a certificate of appreciation.
• Look for reasons to praise employees.
• Print business cards for every position (this can be done fairly inexpensively online or you can buy a computer program).
• Boost employee morale by calling a mandatory all-staff meeting that sounds pressing and urgent but the only agenda is something fun.
• After the completion of a long project, have employees come in late the next day or bring breakfast for them.
• Introduce everyone as if they were top level management.

• Take them bowling
• Take staff to do something they may never have tried otherwise.

• Start a community service project of their choice.
• Close up shop and take a all office walk– just for fun.
• Stage a fire drill and set up a party while others are outside.
• Place a series of unusual but symbolic objects (representing their hard work) in conspicuous places to make them wonder. Reveal the answer with your thanks.
• Money may not buy lifelong happiness but it sure goes a long way in showing appreciation. Remember cash incentives.
Boosting employee morale is worth every effort. Many ideas can be implemented without much cost and when appropriate, it is always money well spent.
